A second in Class for Higginbottom

WPR had just two Formula Fords out for the Castle Combe FF1600 Championship race - Josh Fisher in Richard Hudson-Evans' Van Diemen JL14 and Andrew Higginbottom in the WPR Van Diemen RF88.

Practice began wet and began drying out as the session wore on. Most of the Top 10 set their fastest laps on the last lap of the session and the team believed the chequered flag was shown 28 seconds too early with Josh being the first driver to pass it while in P4. Unfortunately as the other drivers posted their fastest times Josh dropped down to qualify 11th. The team were also chasing a mysterious handling problem which caused a spin during qualifying and which damper re-builds didn't seem to solve. Andrew did better and qualifies 14th and 2nd in Class.

Josh went well in the race, rising to eighth by the end of Lap 2 and then briefly heading a group squabbling over fourth until a late braking manoeuvre dropped him back to eighth although fastest lap was some reward. In contract, Andrew had a quiet race coming home 16th and second in Class C.
