Podium for Wayne Poole at Oulton

Wayne Poole and Steve Bracegirdle took their Van Diemens to the Oulton International circuit for the Pre 90 Formula Ford race along with Ray Smith in his Swift SC93 for the Post 89 race on August 18th.

Friday testing was eventful as Ray went off and damaged his car. A long round trip back to WPR HQ for the necessary parts and a morning rebuild saw Ray make qualifying with 20 minutes to spare!

In qualifying Wayne went well to record a fourth overall and third in Class C spot, Steve was 18th in a large field while Ray was happy just to post a time and get on the grid.

In the Pre 90 race Wayne finished as he started for a well deserved podium while Steve came home in 19th place. Wayne was a little disappointed as he had run with the leaders for much of the race and felt that second or at least third place was on but he was still a bit short on racecraft, only having raced intermittently in recent years.

In the Post 89 race Ray managed to finish the race, on the same lap as the leaders and was rewarded with a third in Class - a suitable reward for all the effort!
