Podiums for Guy Parr & Steve Bracegirdle

The week-end race meeting for British GTs on 23/24 July 2011 saw WPR busy as usual with Guy Parr out in the team Mini Cooper in the Saloon races and his own Nemesis GT in the GT races, Steve Bracegirdle and Pete Diccox out in the Van Diemen RF89s and finally Tom Margetson having his first taste of GTs in Des Andrews' Megar Hart.

In the two Saloon races, after a particularly strong qualifying, Guy Parr came home in 11th place on each occasion and hanging on well to a similar but faster Mini Cooper JCW and a very quick MG ZR.

Guy's Nemesis GT is a much more competitive proposition in GT races as he showed by qualifying in second place for both races and finishing second and a third in the two races. Tom Margetson in the Megar Hart had tested well on the previous Thursday and managed a spin on cold tyres in practice but still qualified an excellent third. Unfortunately Tom repeated the trick in the first race spinning off at Quarry again on cold tyres. However, recovering quickly, Tom managed to get back to fifth by the end. In the second race Tom made a good start but took it easy early on (we wonder why?) but finished strongly closing up on a couple of Radicals near the end.

Steve Bracegirdle qualified just behind Class rivals Cobbold and Houston for the first Formula Ford race. Having made a satisfactory start Steve held station behind these two for many laps, lapping at around the same pace, until a spinning Class B car brought out a yellow and Steve lost touch. Near the end Houston got past Cobbold but ended up in the bank leaving Steve to take second in Class with Pete Diccox fourth after running strongly in the early laps.

In the second Formula Ford race Steve was again running well and closing in on second in Class when the race was red flagged. Pete repeated his first race performance and again finished fourth in Class despite needing a push start on the grid.

Steve also took part in the two Formula Free single seater races, finishing both and taking a 3rd and 4th in Class on each occasion.
