Seconds for Mitchell and Bracegirdle

The Castle Combe two day Summer Spectacular event saw WPR's front runner, Josh Fisher, take a break from racing but he was replaced in the team's line up by Ben Mitchell having an outing in the Richard Hudson-Evans owned and Classic Auction Review backed Van Diemen JL16 (the yellow nose car) which he last raced in the 2021 Walter Hayes Trophy meeting. Ben was joined by the familiar pairing of James Colborn (Van Diemen RF07) and Steve Bracegirdle's Class C Van Diemen RF89.

Qualifying for the first of the two Formula Ford races saw Ben a close second with James in the 1m 12s in eighth and Steve in fifteenth and second in Class C. In the race Ben made a good start and ran second until Lap 8 when he dropped to third and an incident on the last lap saw him post a disappointing DNF. James and Steve had good runs to finish 9th and 11th respectively with Steve taking second in Class C.

For Race 2 Ben qualified third with James in tenth and Steve in fifteenth. In the race Ben again made a good start, running second in the opening laps and taking the lead on Lap 5 for three laps before dropping back to finish a close second. James came home eighth with Steve in fourteenth and taking second in Class C.
