WPR prepares for the 2021 season

The WPR team were at Combe on Tuesday March 30 and again on Thursday April 1 preparing for the 2021 season.

On Tuesday James Coborn was out in his Van Diemen RF88 making sure both he and the car were ready for a test and coaching session planned for the Thursday. The Chris Bennett Van Diemen RF89, which had not run since May 2017, had been race prepared by the team ready for a new driver to try circuit racing. Unfortunately this plan has been postponed so Chris checked the car out in a couple of sessions to confirm that all was running as it should.

On the Thursday Ben Mitchell was having his first run in the Classic Auction Review backed Van Diemen RF99/JL14 which Josh Fisher has used very successfully in recent seasons. Coming for Historic Formula Ford (among other things) Ben was getting used to the stiffer Class A car and finding where the extra speed could be achieved. A 1m 11.0 s lap proved that the combination of car and driver is going to be a competitive pairing this year.

Josh was also on hand to provide driver coaching to James Colborn which went really well with James improving his times by over a second from his Tuesday test (when it was warmer and less windy).

Steve Bracegirdle was out in both his Van Diemen RF89 and Mini Cooper S, looking forward to the races on Easter Monday.
