A win for Fisher and podiums for Parr, Bracegirdle & Colborn

The Howard's Day meeting was the opening event of the Castle Combe 2019 season and the Wayne Poole Racing team were entered in the two Formula Ford races with Josh Fisher (Van Diemen JL14), Steve Bracegirdle and James Colborn (both in Van Diemen RF89s), the Hot Hatch race with Guy Parr, Graham Cox and Steve Bracegirdle (all in Mini Cooper Ss).

For the two Formula Ford races Josh qualified 4th and 3rd while Steve and James, having his first race for the team, qualified together in 17th and 18th - 2nd and 3rd in Class C for the first race and 15th and 18th for the second. In the first race Josh made a good start to run in second place in the early laps but the 4 way dice for the lead saw him lose out and finish 4th. James got the better of Steve at the start but they swapped positions on lap 3 and finished that way in 17th and 18th taking 2nd and 3rd in Class C. In the second race Josh made another good start, and took the lead on Lap 2 which he held until the finish, despite being under constant pressure (from brother Felix) the whole race. Steve and James ran together for most of the race until lap 8 when James dropped out leaving Steve to finish 15th and another 2nd in Class.

For the first time PR had three Mini Coopers out in a race - the Hot Hatch challenge. Guy, Graham and Steve qualified in 12th, 14th and 16th which was 3rd, 4th and 5th in Class E. Steve made the best start and ran ahead of Guy until lap 5 when the positions were reversed. Graham posted a DNF on lap 3 while the others went on to finish 11th and 12th with Guy taking the final podium place.

Guy also took part in the CC Saloon Car race, qualifying 30th and having a good run to finish 18th.
