13/04/2009

The Wayne Poole Racing team experienced a few dramas and disappointments over the Easter Bank Holiday week-end. On the Sunday at Silverstone Jim Morris took a good fourth after starting third on the grid while Ash Clifford, having his first Formula Ford race, was going well until an off at Woodcote ended his race. On the Monday at Castle Combe practice was relatively uneventful with Tom Margetson setting fastest time in Class C. In the Qualifying race Olly Bull had a first corner mishap while Jim Morris broke a clutch cable near the end. Tom continued his good form and finished fifth for a good starting position for the feature race. Unfortunately Jim didn't make the race as first reserve, while Ash pulled into the pits early on. Tom held first in Class C until the final lap, dropping to second in Class. Felix Fisher had a busy race in amongst all the Class B runners while , Pete Diccox and Darren Houldcroft both ran steadily in their class to finish. Meanwhile, in the GT race Des Andrews wasn't able to take the start in his Sleek after losing an engine in practice. Full report here.
