News > Mixed results at Combe Carnival meeting

04/10/2008

At a cold, windswept and (at the end) wet Castle Combe on Saturday 4th October for the final round of the Castle Combe Formula Ford championship and the FF Carnival a busy WPR team had a large entry of cars to look after. After two cold and slippery practice sesions, which saw Felix Fisher lose his brakes at Quarry and suffer a major accident which fortunately left him only bruised and shaken, all the WPR drivers were left with work to do in the races that were to come. In the final round of the Melton Concrete products Championship (with classes A & B already won by the Fisher brothers) Tom Margetson stormed through the field from a lowly grid position to finish second in Class (& 11th overall) to clinch third place in Class C in the Championship. In the Carnival qualifying race Josh fisher took a good win from Robert Barrable to start the Carnival from seventh on the grid (the top 6 places having been filled by the fastest 6 in practice). The Carnival itself was held in driving rain with Wayne Poole Racing entered driver, Oliver Bull producing a classy drive to finish an excellent fourth. The wet conditions were not best suited to Josh Fisher's Mygale SJ03 but he drove a good race to keep in control and finish a creditable sixth. Paul Janes managed to finish all three races without mishap other than the odd spin. After various problems in the first two races Pete Diccox managed to complete the Carnival race while Des Andrews and the Parr brothers (Guy & Nigel) all experienced one problem or another. A more detailed report and photos to follow later.
